Qualifications Required : Entry onto the apprenticeship is subject to a thorough initial assessment to establish course suitability. Ideally applicants should have at least 4 GCSEs including English and maths at grades 9- 4 for a Level 3 Apprenticeship and 9-3 for a Level 2.
Proof of qualifications will be required before you can be accepted onto the apprenticeship.
PLEASE NOTE: All applicants regardless of entry requirements will be emailed an Initial Assessment to complete as part of the recruitment procedure. This is an online assessment in English and maths and can be completed at your preferred location remotely. Currently, due to COVID19 we are not offering Initial Assessment appointments at either campus. Those without the stated entry requirements or awaiting GCSE/GCSE retake grades, will be offered further advice and guidance to support their application if required.
Vacancy Full Description : Detailed training will be given in all aspects of modern-day turf management/ agronomy, environmental and ecological considerations/ legislation and golf course presentation.

A Golf Greenkeeper must be able to:

• Maintain good standards of health and safety for self and others
• Prepare the golf course for play each day
• Maintain and use appropriate equipment and machinery, including the use of tractors, ride-on machines, and specialist equipment
• Apply turf treatments to help produce quality playing surfaces, including fertilisers and top dressing and disease suppressants.
• Maintain and renovate bunkers and other hazards such as water features.
• Maintain drainage and irrigation systems.
• Identify problem pests and treat accordingly.
• Interact with customers and other club staff and volunteers.
• Be comfortable working outdoors in all weathers, with early morning starts.

Working Week : Hours TBC Mon-Fri You will be rota'd to work every other Saturday or Sunday
Salary : £ 195.00 (Weekly)

Personal Qualities : Have an ambition for both golf and working outdoors in a horticultural setting.
You will have a desire to learn from a team of highly experienced existing green keepers.
You will be punctual and flexible in your working hours, events can mean the need to work outside of normal hours.
A passion for the role will be expressed at interview but also once employed, asking lots of questions with a thirst for knowledge and understanding will be encouraged.

Training to be Provided : Apprenticeship in Golf Greenkeeping Level 2 including Functional Skills in Maths and English if required
