Qualifications Required : Entry onto the apprenticeship is subject to a thorough initial assessment to establish course suitability. Ideally applicants should have at least 4 GCSEs including English and Maths at grades 9- 4 for an Advanced Apprenticeship and 9-3 for an Intermediate. Proof of qualifications will be required before you can be accepted onto the apprenticeship.
PLEASE NOTE: Those without the stated entry requirements or awaiting GCSE/GCSE retake grades, may be offered an appointment to come into college (Ipswich or Suffolk Rural (Otley) campus) and sit an online assessment to confirm program suitability.
Vacancy Full Description : Panks are a well-established company that specializes in the pump industry. We also work in other industries including Irrigation, H&V and undertake large Mechanical and Electrical contracts.
We are quite a diverse company, the Apprenticeship will include working in most of the departments mentioned above as well as our workshop and service department, this will allow the successful candidate to get a full understanding of how each department works.
It is worth noting that we work in some rather unpleasant environments from time to time so please bare that in mind before applying for this role. More information is given during the interview process.

Working Week : Monday to Friday 08.00-16.30
Salary : £ 214.50 (Weekly)

Future Prospects : The successful applicant would become a qualified Electrical Engineer in a specialized industry, becoming a key member of staff in our service team. In house training would be given on all pumps and systems.
An Engineering contract will be offered once the Apprenticeship has been completed, providing, we are happy with their performance throughout their Apprenticeship.
Possibly in the future roles may become available allowing the candidate to progress within the company.
Training to be Provided : This occupational route will work on the installation, testing, commissioning and maintenance of low-voltage electrical and electronic devices and appliances. In addition, Installation Electricians must understand and apply the principles of planning and selection for the installation of electro technical equipment and systems in buildings, structures and the environment. The apprentice will complete an End point Assessment to demonstrate that they can perform knowledge, skills and behaviours in their occupation.
Other Information : This job will involve coming into contact with sewage, and sometimes we have to come into contact with pumps at various food processing factories which can be unpleasant.
The role will at times require you to enter a confined space so if you are claustrophobic then it may not be for you.
The job also requires you to work outdoors throughout the year.
