Vacancy Short Description : A fantastic opportunity to begin a career as an equine apprentice working for an extremely prestigious yard.


Qualifications Required : 4 GCSE’s incl. Maths & English A-E/9-4.
Those without the stated entry requirements or awaiting GCSE/GCSE retake grades, will be offered an appointment to come into college (Easton or Otley campus) and sit an online assessment. The required grade is BKSB Level 1 or above but we will consider an Entry 3 grade if the student shows commitment to continue their maths and English learning
Vacancy Full Description : Day to day jobs will include,
* Mucking out to a high standard, filling haynets, poo picking fields
* Turning out and bringing in (change of rugs etc)
* Grooming and general care
* Tack cleaning
* Tacking up, untacking and washing off
* Lunging and long reining according to experience
* Shadowing our experienced staff and learning new things.
* Opportunities to travel to competitions and assist with the preparations for shows
Learning from top level Olympic Bronze medal winner and UKCC level 3 coach
All equipment is modern and supports looking after top level competition horses.
Accommodation is available for this position if required.
Own horse a possibility for someone already out eventing
Number of Positions Available : 1
Working Week : 7am-5.30pm 40 hours per week between Mon-Fri with rota'd weekends
Salary : £156.00 Per Week

Personal Qualities : You will have a willingness to learn from the best tutors. You should be able to work as part of a team as well as work independently when required
Skills Required : You will have a genuine passion to begin a career in equine horse care and be willing to learn. You must have basic equine knowledge (ie able to put a headcollar on and lead a horse comfortably). You will be hardworking, understanding the demands of a top class event yard. You will be flexible on your hours as business dictates.
Future Prospects : Long term prospects are excellent for the right apprentice who can demonstrate excellent time keeping, a passion for the role and flexibitly.
Training to be Provided : Equine Groom Standard including Functional Skills in Maths and English if required
Other Information : Pay Rates: The current NMW rate for Apprentices is £3.90 per hour with effect from 1st April 2019. This applies to 16-18 year old Apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other Apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The wage for Apprentices applies to both time spent on the job plus time spent in training. For more information visit:
Apprentices need to be employed for a minimum of 30 hours per week in the industry with a contract of employment
Working week: Please be aware this role requires the successful applicant to be flexible and able to adjust hours to work weekends and later/early starts in order to meet the expectations of the yard according to seasons, workload, and agenda of events.

You will be on your feet for most of the day.

Work can predominantly be outdoor so at times you will be hot, cold and/or wet.
